“Freedom is the quiet courage to rest in who you already are.” Sage
Dear Ones,
We are so free that we can even choose bondage. This inner freedom can never be lost; it can only be temporarily obscured or forgotten.
As we are born into a society where many forgot long ago that they are free, they could not remind us of it either. We are born into a family and a society with their structures and rules. The conditioning then guides us to fit in, and somewhere in the process we forget that we are totally free and sovereign. Somehow we start believing the lie — that we are not really free.
In a way, this is a divine play, so we are never doomed. The divine spark of freedom within us never dies completely and guides us toward full realisation, toward the ultimate truth that we are free, that we have always been and we always will be free. Once we see this clearly, we cannot unsee it. The pull of the old conditioned self, which does not believe in its freedom, can still appear, but it cannot fool us for very long.
We start noticing more and more the subtle — and also not so subtle — ways we give our freedom away. Are we believing a negative thought? Are we acting from the “not-free” feeling? Are we falling asleep to the deep knowing that we always have a choice? Are we blaming others or circumstances and, in doing so, giving away our power and our freedom?
Awareness is the key to reclaiming our natural freedom and recognising old patterns. Resting more often in our true nature, in our beingness, is another, as it allows us to literally taste the freedom that we ARE. This means resting in the greater Self, which already IS free, knows it, and effortlessly acts from it. The little self — often called the ego — is the one that keeps itself in prison and believes it’s someone else’s doing. So seeking freedom from its limited perspective is a hard way to go about it.
And so, dearest One, if you feel inspired, come back to the source of all your freedom. Come back and remember that you choose everything in your life — often perhaps unconsciously — yet it is still a choice you are making. Can you make the greatest choice there is — a choice to rest in your natural Self, in your beingness, in the greatest truth of who you are? Can you see what freedom arises from there?
You might notice a new clarity and truly free and spontaneous choices naturally arising from there. You might recognise that these choices are not random, reckless, or foolish, but instead come from divine intelligence, wisdom, and love — and are therefore highly beneficial and practical for your life. You might notice the striking beauty of the freedom that is you, naturally allowing yourself to be authentic and at the same time loving, kind, and compassionate.
Then nobody will need to tell you that you are, always have been, and always will be FREE. It will be your living experience. You deserve nothing less than that. Are you ready, dearest One?
I look forward to meditating with you.
Lots of love,
Jana xx
