Dear Ones,
Sometimes people ask me to help them to find what their purpose is. I think purpose is a grand word and it might be at times too intimidating. It seems to be more focused on the external appearance when in fact it is the flame within which truly fuels what can be then outwardly described as purpose. And this flame, this passion is something within each of us and we can learn to be in touch with and cultivate it further.
A big part of awakening and spiritual growth is about unlearning. Through conditioning in the early years we received many programs which are not in alignment with our true nature and these programs can create confusion for us and so it’s good to become aware of them and let them go: Not many of us were really encouraged to get in touch and fully respect our inner truth early on but instead we were often trained to comply with preconceived ideas of our well-meaning parents and teachers. And so no wonder that later in life many have trouble fully recognizing their own inner voice, their own truth and their own passion.
Fortunately the flame within can’t ever be put out. Yes, it can be temporarily diminished to the extent that we don’t even feel its life-giving warmth and creative power but when we start looking after it, it can burn brightly again. There is no one who can tend to this flame within as well as you can. Only you know what really ignites this light and what doesn’t. And if you can give yourself full permission to listen to and trust this very personal inner yes and no fully, there is nothing in your way. The external world is only a reflection of the inner world.
One of the old and outdated ideas which still permeate the consciousness of many is a belief that to follow one’s passion is too self-indulgent. But the truth is that you can’t efficiently really serve any greater purpose without skipping yourself and what naturally interests you. You would have neither stamina nor the access to the great ideas without first igniting the fire within. And more than that, that which naturally interests you and what you are naturally passionate about reveals also your very unique gifts and talents you can best contribute to the greater good. And no matter how humble your contribution to the greater good might look on the outside, especially as you take the first steps, if it truly comes from your deepest heart, it is far more powerful and effective than if you work hard day and night at something which doesn’t really interest you. And so can you give yourself full permission to follow your passion today, dearest One?
I look forward to meditating with you.
Lots of love,
Jana xx
