“You are your own sacred ground. When you remember that, no outside storm can uproot you.” Sage
Dear Ones,
Conditioning often makes us believe that our security and stability lies in something outside of us. We all have little variations of this story and so some of us seek security in possessions, some in work while others in relationships. And although there is nothing wrong with having all those things we desire and enjoy them, when we build attachments to them and seek true stability through them, we are like a cat chasing her own tail. We can’t ever get there from here. Simply because a true unshakable stability can only be found within.
I think you would agree that having a human experience can sometimes be a wild ride. So much can be happening both within and without. Thoughts and feelings are moving through us while our external lives are full of events and changes too. But the good news, and the very good news is that the true imperturbable peace, joy and stability is ever present no matter what is seemingly happening in our lives. And it is closer than we think. It is our true infinite nature, not limited by space and time.
In truth we are like the open vast blue sky on which both the inner and outer experience effortlessly arise. Like the clouds in the sky, passing through but never really disturbing the heavenly blue sky. This underlying sweet beingness is ever present. So close to you that you might not see it as you are usually focusing on the details of your life, the passing clouds. This blue sky of our existence holds all the true stability while we – actually quite humorously – seek it stubbornly in the passing fleeting clouds.
You can be in touch with your true nature, with your true stability more if you feel inspired to. And as there is no better time than now, just pause for a moment. Instead of focusing and identifying yourself with a thought, a feeling or something external, just take a step back from all happenings, and another one and one more. Instead of focusing on something singular, broaden your focus as much as you can in all directions. Gently invite that which is usually in the background into the foreground. Sense its quality. Relax in it. Allow yourself to rest in it. Just be.
You might notice that it calms your mind, deepens your breath and changes your perspective. The details of your life which might have been perceived just a moment ago as very serious and important suddenly lose all their gravity and are seen now as insignificant and easily changeable. It’s like you always thought you were this tiny grey cloud and now you can see with crystal clarity that you actually are the vast blue sky.
And once you have experienced just a little taste of this true unshakable stability of who you are, you naturally stop seeking it where it is not. This is a powerful life-changing realisation. It doesn’t mean that you become a hermit or enter a monastery – although those are valid choices too 🙂 It’s more like you are now grounded in something truly stable and can actually have more joy and fun with everything your life naturally presents. The world feels more like a playground rather than something heavy and serious. The light of your true being illuminates each corner of this playground. Who would ever think that the true unshakable stability is actually light like a feather?
I look forward to meditating with you.
Lots of love,
Jana xx
