Your True Nature

Become conscious of being conscious. Say or think “I am” and add nothing to it. Be aware of the stillness that follows the “I am”. Sense your presence, the naked unveiled, unclothed beingness. It is untouched by young or old, rich or poor, good or bad, or any other attributes. It is the spacious womb of all creation, all form.”
Ramana Maharshi

Dear Ones,
you are an infinite eternal being having a human experience. And so in the earthly realm of tangible reality you are now manifested as YOU. Your body, your name, your age, your gender, your nationality, your work, your personality, your beliefs etc. creating a very vivid picture of you in the external reality. And although all of these attributes are part of the game of life we all play, none of them can define you.

The same way as the waves are still part of the ocean, you are, you always have been and you always will be part of the Divine – an absolute reality with infinite potential. It is something which the mind – drenched in limitation – is not designed to fully comprehend. So just take a deep breath and move beyond it. Rest in your heart, rather than in your head, as you read these words. As you relax deeper and deeper into the heart, see yourself as a wave in the ocean. And also see all other living beings as waves in the ocean. The same seawater in all of them. So are you the wave or are you the ocean? It’s a matter of perspective, isn’t it? But if you see yourself as a wave there is certainly more limitation than when you see yourself as the ocean. And your perspective is what determines your life experience.

Although the manifested YOU needs to be loved, cherished and celebrated, if you truly want to let go of limitation (your conditioning, your past and your beliefs based in limitation) and see your true nature, you have to go further. You have to fully recognise and become receptive to the expansive eternal being that you are. And everyone is. When that shift of perspective happens all limitations belonging to the “little you” naturally fall away and you fully recognise your true nature which has been there all along. Your innocence untouched by any life experience. Your true being. Luminous.Thoughts and feelings still arising and dissipating, but your true nature remaining. Limitless. Boundless. Peaceful. Simple. Free. Happy. Joyful.

The division and separation then also disappear as who could divide the waves of the ocean? You recognise the same divine awareness at the heart of all living beings, all connected much more than it might be apparent on the surface. A genuine heart-centered relationship with the world is only a natural consequence then, an engagement which doesn’t come from limitation any more – often manifesting as need, obligation, guilt or sacrifice. No, it’s rather like an innocent child with no other agenda than wanting to play with a friend… And so are you the wave or the ocean, dearest One?

I look forward to meditating with you.
 Lots of love,
