“If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you’ll come to understand that you are connected with everything.” Alan Watts
Dear Ones,
your mind is such a great tool, if it’s a genuinely positive mind. But if it’s predominantly negative, it won’t serve you so well, because it has such powerful creative abilities. So if you can focus selectively and consistently on what you want that will be what you attract into your life experience. This is so simple and although it can be easy too for many of us this is a journey. Not so very different from any other new skill, learning to focus your mind positively requires practice and patience. But once you truly understand the key role your mind plays in your life, you’ll naturally make it one of your priorities.
An important part of this inner practice is taking responsibility for all aspects of your life. That doesn’t mean to be hard on yourself or blame yourself, once you awaken to the truth, that your external world is just a result of your thinking and feeling so far. The gift of self-awareness is one of the greatest gifts, so always treasure it no matter what you discover about yourself. Taking responsibility for all your creations is really more recognising your innate power and no longer giving it away to any person, circumstance or condition, but truly owning it.
What I value so much on my own spiritual journey are the insights. These moments of awakening to the truth. Like awakening from a dream and suddenly seeing with such clarity. Recently I had one of these transformative moments…I was listening to someone who is self-realised and suddenly could see myself from above. I could see so clearly that I am not my mind and I am not my body. I could see so clearly that I AM awareness. Pure consciousness. Absolutely unlimited. Not touched by any life experience. Eternal. Peaceful. Joyful. Love.
And what was really helpful was seeing in such a clear light like never before that I am not my mind. I’ve got a mind, but it is not who I AM…Especially for us thinkers, curious minds who like to ponder things, the identification with the mind can happen so subtly and so automatically that we won’t even realise it. But then we can so easily believe the thoughts and easily get entangled in them…I am sure we all have experienced believing a thought to be true only later to discover that it was entirely fabricated by our mind…And my guess is that this happens more often than not…
The wonderful gift of this insight allowed me to just rest in my awareness more often now. The same way you switch off a radio, I now consciously switch off my mind. It feels like dropping into the ocean. Like letting go. Just being. Simplicity. Bliss…And being so clear of the actual role the mind plays, I don’t buy so easily into the negative thoughts now, which helps immensely with the ongoing art of cultivating the positive mind. And it’s simply just so liberating!
And there was another gift of my realisation. Clearly seeing that the awareness that I am is the same awareness or consciousness that you are and everybody else is. All limitation is a negative dream of the mind. Oneness without limitation is the absolute truth of who we are. So on the surface of creation we are beautiful in our uniqueness and individuality, and below the surface we are all connected through this vast ocean of awareness which is within every living being…And it feels so good to just rest in this unity, in this sisterhood and brotherhood, in this absolute equality. Will you join me?
I look forward to meditating with you on Zoom!
Lots of love,
