The Wisdom of Slowing Down

Dear Ones,

It’s so good to take time to connect to the Earth, to slow down, appreciate and ground ourselves in the present moment. And there is probably no more welcoming month to do so than May when mother Earth shows herself in her most colorful splendor and glory….Most of us on the spiritual journey are aware and often increasingly so that we are spiritual beings having a human experience which even if it lasts more than a hundred years is nothing compared to the eternity where the soul lives. And so although our true home is infinity, all of the cosmos and the heart of Source, the Earth is still a very fascinating destination where the soul can grow and expand enormously.

Especially in these times of quickening and accelerating in so many areas of our lives both individually and collectively it’s so good to slow down, relax, rest and allow all these inner and outer changes to be fully integrated. Our bodies belong to the Earth and in that sense we ARE the Earth too and so we too go through the cycles of spring, summer, autumn and winter again and again and it’s wise to listen to the inner rhythm and be in harmony with it rather than fight it.

The body is often described as a temple of the spirit and to feel really at home here on the Earth we have to first feel at home in our bodies. The body itself is a miracle. So much is happening on our behalf without our conscious control and it’s so good and so right to give the body anything it needs to thrive as a gift for enabling us to have this amazing physical and sensory experience. Slowing down and relaxing is one of the many ways we can gift the body so that in return it can give us a healthy and happy home.

Slowing down helps us to be more aware and grounded in the body, in the heart and in the present moment. Most of us in our culture and time are conditioned to be thinking, thinking and thinking some more. And so we end up living in the head rather than in the heart and the body and as a consequence we become lost in the imaginary stories our mind tells us incessantly like a radio we never switch off. And so we are often absent from what’s happening right in front of our eyes in this earthly experience. Especially in the cities people can go through the whole year without being truly aware of changing seasons and the beauty and wonder the Earth is offering unconditionally everyday.

But if we fully accept the invitation of the Earth and reconnect with her on a deeper level we simultaneously reconnect on a more intimate level with our bodies and fully accept the earthly home rather than just quickly passing through with our memories blurred. And when we are fully grounded in the body and in the Earth we can also more easily manifest our dreams and wishes and give them a real physical shape.

And so if you feel inspired, dearest One, accept the sacred invitation of May gracefully and without much delay. Allow your body to be nourished by the bright rays of the sun and fresh air you breathe. Let the scent of countless blossoms enchant you and the vivid colours of flowers revive your imagination. And maybe you could even put your bare feet on the grass and imagine you are a tree with deep roots and perhaps then you remember fully: This is my home. Yes, certainly a temporary one but how splendid, how breathtakingly beautiful! No matter how challenging it might feel at times, it is an honour to be here and live this human life in this human body as best as I can.

I look forward to meditating with you

Lots of love,

Jana xx
